STYLE CLUB, with it’s seemingly chaos of bright colours and mad patterns are courtesy of Garry Cohn. “I was thinking of Alice in wonderland as a punk rocker” as he describes the interior. But there is a method to his madness. “It works because of the scale, proportions and careful placement of the interior wall graphics because of this your view does not get lost in a barrage of patterns and colour. Also, the white tiled floor with its black inlayed hair clipping motif runs from the front to the back of the salon grounding all the colours and patterns throughout the space.” The best bit, surely, is the wall of convex mirrors, which reflect the design all over again. These are the sorts of looking glasses that pre-CCTV were found suspended in the corners of supermarkets. STYLE CLUB, with its 26 styling stations is part of a 70-strong Irish salon chain, Peter Mark , but it is designed as a true one off.
